    some eye candy

I'm a fairly new turner. Still learning, but getting better with each piece. Here is a Hollow form lidded dish and a birdhouse xmas ornament. The dish is Ash body and finial with an Elm lid. The hollow form is about 9" round. I used a torch to burn the top half, to give the color and expose the grain. The bottom is Transtint dye. The ornament is Ash and Walnut, all natural. Some add a perch and a small bird figure. Obviously I have not.... at least not yet.

Thanks. I used tools with round carbide cutters. First I used a big straight tool to remove most of the material. Then I used a hunter #3 swan neck to finish back under the lip. Hardest part for me was sanding on the inside. I need some of those sanding balls.
