Thinking of starting a woodworkers/turners group in the Olympic peninsula area.

There are quite a few woodworkers and wood turners in my area, yet the only group is over an hour away in Olympia. I am thinking of starting a group in Mason county Wa. Most are retired up here and I think it would be good to gather with like minded folks and maybe help each other with ideas and fellowship.
If you live in this area and are interested; please comment!
Where did I put those band aids?

You do know about Straight Turners (Sequim) and OPCAAW (Bremerton)?

Many of the members of Bremerton club live in Mason county.

Actually one of the founding members of both clubs lived in Brinnon.

Another founding member of the Bremerton club lives near Shelton (and also founded D-Way tools). The regional buy of Madrona, Maple and Myrtle burl is at his house in January.

Are any of these AAW chapters near you?

The one in Olympia appears to be about 30 miles from Hoodsport. I drive further than that.

Yes, I've found some that are in Olympia. I'll check them out.

I have demonstrated at least once with Ralph's group. Like just about all the turning groups I have met, a good bunch of people. Most difficult thing about starting a new club is finding people who want to organize. That is not me....

Last Labor Day we were doing a Arts & Crafts show in Ocean Shores.
We must have had 6 locals ask about a turning club... So we referred them to one of the show volunteers (also a local) about getting something going there.
Might happen, might not. But more then one of the folk we talked to where Snow Birds, so probably not until spring would be my guess
