Helical cutter head on direct drive jointer?

Has anyone installed a helical cutter head, e.g. Shelix on a direct drive jointer?

Darcy may know of some but generally the machine is converted to belt drive ( or maybe a lovejoy connection ) as the head is part of the rotor so both would need to be machined. Very costly for something of such limited benefit for a jointer Dave.

Yes, a few. Old head gets sent in, they measure and copy.
Hermance is my go to for heads.

I do what my customers want, but I see no need for them in a jointer.

Darcy sold a client of mine a vintage DD 12” jointer with a Hermance head.

If Hermance does a DD head, that would be my choice over Byrd. The head swap makes most sense if the original is bad or a clamshell. Dave
