    precision twist drill bit set

Looking for recommendations for a precision twist drill bit set that won't break the bank.
I have a large Harbor Freight set where the quality is lacking. Its nice to have every fraction and letter bit size for those odd tasks but I would like a smaller set of quality bits from 1/16" to 1/2" sizes in 1/16" increments.
BTW I have a quality set of LeeValley Bradpoint bits.

    All the Best

I don't know how precise they are but I have a couple sets - metric & SAE - from Woodcraft. They're Colt brand I think, it looks like Woodcraft no longer sells them. I know what you're saying about the 115 piece sets for $50 or something, It's nice to have the sizes and they drill wood fine and work for thinner soft metal but yeah .......

I don't think the 100 piece sets from Woodcraft are too bad, a mix of straight and brad point bits. I got a set for I think $29 on sale. You could get bits from somebody like W.L. Fuller which are very high quality but not exactly bargains.

1/16 in to 1/2 in by 64th increments.

These are also good but mechanic's length so a bit shorter than the jobber's length ones you usually see.

The usual suspects in no particular order: Cleveland, Chicago, Morse, Norseman, nachi, PTD, Dormer, Viking.
    Huot for storage cases
Consider a few parabolic drills for chip clearance in deep holes. I have a feeling only good makers bother to manufacture parabolic drills?

Those Norseman/Viking bright bits are outstanding. They are local to me and I used to get them in bulk at a (now closed unfortunately) local distributor for less than the crummy imported bits from HD. The flute edges are sharp enough that you need to be a little careful about cutting yourself. They also have a little faster spiral than most bits and smooth flutes, both good for use on wood.

Triumph bits are great too: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0007UPHQ0/

I believe Lee Valley starts with these when grinding their brad point drills.

I have a set of Norseman and they do everything I need. Think you will be happy with your purchase.
