Tips for cleaning up an old tool box?

I picked up an old oak tool box at a garage sale over the weekend. It is a Gerstner style tool box, but not manufactured by Gerstner. I would like to clean up the finish and line the drawers with felt or something. I'm not looking to completely restore the tool box, but rather just clean it up a bit. Any suggestions for products to use will be appreciated. Thanks.

I would start with dish soap in warm water. When that's dry wipe it with mineral spirits on a clean rag to remove stuff the dish soap didn't get.
