    Mix and Match or Kits?

Okay here's another question. I have been offered for free a 2 hp water cooled spindle complete. It includes the pump and controller. Are there any viable options to make use of this spindle? Either a bare bones but solid unit that spindle isn't included in the package or possibly a kit that gives a solid foundation to build upon. Thanks in advance. I'm sure I haven't supplied enough information so ask whatever is needed. I have no space limitations.

You basically just need the spindle, wiring and the VFD. To have the simple on/ off and speed control depends on what kind of control you have and using a wiring schematic to connect the VFD to it and set up the software to operate it. Otherwise i guess you could manually start/stop and set speed manually on the VFD

    Hi Ronald,

Avid CNC Router Parts offers kits with or without the spindle.

Thanks David. That looks promising. Does anyone know anything about the quality of these kits?

    Hi Ronald,
I purchased the Avid CNCRP Pro4848 with 3HP spindle/Nema 34 motors about a year ago. I am extremely pleased with the fit, finish, and operation of this machine. I would say the quality of the parts is first rate. They have a reputation for excellent customer service, and that has been my experience as well. I like mine so much that I have just ordered and received another one, this time the Avid CNCRP Pro4824 that will use a 3HP ATC water cooled spindle. This one will be used exclusively for machining aluminum and other non-ferrous metal. They also offer their Standard cnc machine kits for less money, but still the same quality. Their basic CRP4824 CNC machine kits start at $2475. Here are some videos that may give you a better idea of what some of their customers think about their machines.

I loved the video with Frank building his new 4'x8' machine. I thought that it was very well done.

Another great video. I don't have the room, or budget for a CBC right now but the subject is fascinating.
