WIP - Gerstner style machinist chest build.

Hey all, going to make a WIP thread for 2 Gerstner style machinist chests I will be building for Christmas presents. Going to be Walnut with poplar secondary wood and brass hardware. Planning to get started this weekend, got all of my material milled over the last weekend. 1682A7B6-F74A-4A02-A103-EDDBA4EA3807.jpg

    Also looking forward to it!

I am always afraid to post projects that I 'intend' to build, because all too often I get sidetracked and/or they drag out years. I dont want the pressure of intent.

Admire all of you that start/complete projects in reasonable time frames.

Sorry that it has been awhile but been dealing with a shoulder injury. However got some pieces rough cut last night and started some glue ups. Sorry, fighting file types on images. Will try to get them fixed soon.

+1. Wow. That is some tool chest!
I dont think I could give those away - whoever the recipients are, are truly fortunate. I sure hope you made yourself one previously. If not, I dont see how you could let both go. (I have a fondness for that style - even the crappy ones in the HF catalog make me drool.)

I like them too, but no I didn’t make one for myself and after making these I don’t think I ever want to make another one again. These are way to tedious for my ADD.

Very nice...love the walnut. I know what you mean about tedious. When I’m doing something like that, I try to have another project going to give me a break.

Very very nice work. Would you mind giving some insight as to the joinery methods you used for the casework?
