    Oneway 2436 won't stay running..

My 2436, runs, but after I stop it, it won't restart. I can get it to start if I turn the power off and wait a spell. It's worse with larger and heavier blanks for some reason. Help!! Thanks so much in advance.

It sounds like something is overheating and a protection circuit is kicking in. Have you called Oneway?

If you have the brake toggle switch set at short deceleration, with a very heavy blank, it will trip the VFD. If you change it to long deceleration, no problem. That's the way mine works, but it is a 1998 model.

I think that Richard Coers has the answer.

On some lathes with similar VFD controllers, they have a large braking resistor to absorb the electrical energy created by the motor as it is slowing down. But many do not have a braking resistor and you just need to slow down a bit more gradually.

BTW, if you slowed down really quickly with a heavy piece, it might unscrew the chuck.
