    Reclaiming wax

I have a can of quality finishing wax that go hard and shrunk. I,m wondering if there is a solvent or other means to soften it up again.

Mineral spirits might do the trick...

MS should work. Turpentine is the classic solvent in many paste waxes.

Thin it with turpentine or mineral spirits but the wax should be heated to a liquid form before adding the solvent. Just don't use the low odor stuff.

Please be careful when heating. Itís very flammable. Obviously move away from the heat source when adding the turpentine.

You don't need to heat it.

If you moisten the tip of your shop towel with a teaspoon of mineral spirits before you take up the wax, it'll work just fine to apply it for that application.

If you decide to heat it, you probably don't need it very hot, and it would be a fire hazard on the stove. You're in Va, plenty of sunshine there.

Thanks all. Turpentine worked well enough to get it useful again.
