Need Ideas For Island Pot Rack

Our Habitat foreman called me today to tell me they forgot to put Electrical conduit in the slab for an outlet in the kitchen island. The island is 24 x 48”. The idea he came up with is to build a pair of 3” x 3” columns to go from the counter top to the ceiling with an arched panel to span between the columns and hang pots from it. The electrical conduit could run inside one of the columns from the ceiling to the island.
I’d love some feedback regarding the sizes of these 3 components and specific ideas for the arch. We don’t want the columns too large thereby reducing counter space but not so small that they’re out of scale.
Thanks in advance for your input.

If no water in island put island on wheels .....it will not have to comply.

Not a bad idea Kevin but the island has already been fastened to the slab.

The island would be well served with nice LED lighting along the arch(s) between the columns...maybe strip lighting inset into the bottom of the arch? If you really need to hang pots consider decorative hooks hanging from a piece of 4ga Tractor Supply goat panel (4" squares) spray painted black enamel and captured in the arch.

    Ken Krawford,

Without knowing the kitchen layout or cabinet style, here's a quick idea:

Maybe have foreman drill hole in slab/floor for electrical and install conduit.

Alan, thanks for the sketch but I’m not a contributor so I can’t see it.
