center mount drawer slides install trouble

I bought a couple center mount drawer slides (https://www.rockler.com/centerlinere...-drawer-slides). The instructions say to separate the drawer piece from the case piece for installation and that they are just friction held together. They are quite tight and i don't want to pry in certain locations and risk bending the metal. Is there an easy way to separate these? Should i be pulling from each end horizontally, or should i try to rotate them out or pry under the ball bearings? I'm usually pretty good with mechanical things, but i can see myself bending these easily and then they won't work as smoothly.

Hi, normally there’s a small black lever you depress and hold when the slide is almost fully extended.

That allows you extend the slide until they separate......Rod

I think you just have to pull harder. IIRC there is no locking device. Pull them straight apart, w/o twisting, wtc.

Thanks! I had some older ones with the black lever, but not these. These i just had to yank very hard, much harder than i expected. All installed!
