I’m going to look more into what engine repairs will be needed and cost.
Since I am in the heart of NASCAR
country, I know there is an abundance of talent around here to do it right

Did you take it to a GM dealer? If not, I would make a call to them and see if they extended the warranty because this is a common problem. No need to pay for something you don't have to.
