My son is refinishing my outdoor furniture and did a nice job sanding clean. He then applied a heavy coat of waterlox marine spar sealer. I came back from work today and he proudly showed me he put the first coat of finish on the chairs. However he used a can of genera finishes exterior water based finish (urethane) instead of the waterlox finish I bought.
Anyone see any issues if he applies other 2-3 coats with the waterlox oil based finish over the one coat of the GF water based that went on top of the waterlox oil based sealer? Oil...water....oil
i used the GF finish last summer and it didn’t last. People told me water based is no good for exterior furniture so I’d prefer to stick with waterlox which has served me well on exterior doors.
Thanks!
