    Drum Sander on Drill Press

    Hello,

I did about 15 minutes in total of sanding, using a 3" diameter drum sander mounted on my drill press.

After changing the two belts to drill a hole after the sanding was done, there appears to be a noise I have not heard before from my drill press (basic off-shore bench top model).

Is it possible that after brief use of a drum sander (never used it before) any damage could have been done to the drill press?

    Thanks,

    Joe

    Doubtful any damage was done.

Where is the noise coming from?

Are the belts tightened and things locked in place?

The arbor may have come loose from the spindle due to side loading. But that would fall out not rattle around and make noise.
