    Wood Putty vs Wood Filler?

    What applications would each be used? Examples please.

    Filler cures hard -- to the point that you can sand it. Putty stays soft for a long time. It never gets hard enough to sand.

    ...and neither is a good choice if you can use slivers of wood to invisibly fill any gaps in joinery, etc. Neither will ever, ever look like wood.

    This. I can't think of a good use for filler, unless you're just going to paint over a small flaw.
