    2 Cherries and a Maple

Some simple things that I've finished recently. C&C welcomed.

Maple in the middle, cherries on the sides. For sizing, those are regular bricks supporting the bowls which are laying on a 24" I-beam. Lighting is basically sun light from windows on the right in the fab lab on (ECU's) campus. These are phone photos.

Finish on all three bowls is 2-3 coats of shellac sanding sealer and 2 coats of water based lacquer applied by paper towel and rubbed out on a Beal system.

Very nice bowls, however I would suggest trying an oil base finish at least on the first coat. The water base finish is ok but an oil base finish will bring out the wood character better. I mostly use Minwax WOP (Wipe On Poly). It will darken the bowls some which for me is ok.

    Fred,
Thank you. I'm no stranger to WOP. Every now and then I just have to do something different.

    Jim,
Thank you. I was surprised how similar the 2 cherries came out. I had no intention for that.
