Starting grit for sanding quality plywood in prep for staining?

    Hi guys.

I have cherry plywood and was curious to know the starting grit when sanding in preparation for staining.

All of the cabinet grade plywood I've seen had extremely thin veneer. Any sanding was was mainly to remove a smudge or
finger print. We carefully checked for damage before signing ticket since its quite expensive. Sanding was with 150 or 180 grit. Or something even finer.

We sand all ply with 180g. I turn the speed of the Festool 150/5 to 3.
