    Uses for used jigsaw blades?

Does anyone have any suggestions for uses for worn-out jigsaw blades? I imagine a good-quality blade is probably made from decent steel, and it seems a waste to toss them if there's a use for them. Cheers.

Someone posted about making specialized shop knives from saws-all type blades a (long?) while ago. Some of the wider (deeper?) jigsaw blades might have enough meat to do that.

Worst case, they should recycle well.

Put them in a shadow box, each with a short story and maybe a picture, then give it to your grand kids?

  4. If you do any woodturning, you could use them for a chatter tool.

used to be old hacksaw blades could be used to make a telegraph key. No reason they can not be annealed and bent to a new shape then retempered to make mini chisels for mini lathes.

Put them in the box that has bent nails, stripped screws, used utility knife blades and old guitar strings.

I think they would make a fine alternative to dental floss.

And label it "pieces of metal too useless to save". :^)

That was a long time ago. These knives are for marking details and dovetails. The design is now manufactured by Chris Vesper.

I made a mortise gauge a few years ago based on a plan in FWW. Used an old jigsaw blade as the steel for the marking blade.

I like the idea of turning them into little knives!
Of course for the effort and wear on the grinding stone, just buying blades would make more sense, but I'm not in this to make sense!
    apparently.

    WOW!!!

I'm impressed as all get out!!!

I never had any idea you could actually wear out a jigsaw blade!!!!

I've never heard of that before.

Depending of the blade length it can turn in a great insulation and other soft materials cutter. Take off the tooth in a grinder and sharp it like a bread knife. Voila!
