Delta 33-830 Radial Arm Saw - blade brake?

Did the 33-830 have an internal blade brake? Can't find any reference to it in the owners manual and the blade spins down longer than it seems it should - if it had a brake.

    Thanks!

    From the manual
MOTORYour Delta Radial Arm Saw is equipped with a dual voltage motor capable of 120 volt, single phase operation or240 volt, single phase operation. The motor on your sawis shipped from the factory wired for 120 volt operation.Built into the motor is a fail safe type brake which automatically stops the blade within seconds after turning offthe saw or when power is lost.

Check your brushes. Sometimes the brake goes bad when the brushes go bad. Not sure why changing brushes fixes the brake too.

Also, check to make sure the motor bearings are still good.

Not sure about delta, but when my craftsman brake failed, It was an open diode in the motor. There is a dual back to back diode assembly in the motor that causes a back EMF effect to brake the motor when it is turned off. Your problem is in the motor.
