The first dovetails I ever cut were with a Dozuki Z Saw; it was on sale at the local Woodcraft for about 1/3 the price of the Veritas dovetail saws. It turned out that this was a mistake. To clarify, it wasn't a mistake to purchase the saw, it was a mistake for me to use it as my dovetail saw. It was slow (it's a crosscut saw; of course it was slow for rip cuts), and I didn't like the way it covered my lines with sawdust; I found myself constantly stopping to blow sawdust out of the way to clear my lines. I also found the hand/wrist position initially fatiguing, though in retrospect that turned out to simply be my inexperience. After about 9 months I purchased a Veritas dovetail saw and that's been my go-to saw for dovetails and other small cuts ever since. For crosscutting in soft woods, I have grown to like the dozuki. So, I certainly prefer push over pull for dovetails.
