    Guts of the old 87

    Good day, Creekers.

I am in the process of parting out an old Powermatic 87 20" bandsaw with the blade welder. It was a school machine and although I cannot put power to it, the moving things all move.

For sale at this point are:
    • upper and lower bandwheel and tire (identical) $90 each
    • tensioner assembly $150
    • blade guide assembly with counterweight $100
    • lower trunion block, adjuster, lock. stop and handwheel $80 (Upper trunion block is available for $20 but has been broken and will need to be welded by someone who knows cast iron)
    • welder assembly (for parts only. I don't know if it works) $80
    • table $150

Per the rules and regs, the price is the price. And this stuff is cast iron so shipping will not be cheap. The link for the pictures folder is https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...Nz?usp=sharing

Can't figure out how to put up pictures of the individual items yet in the listing but I will if I acquire this skill. 'Permissions' didn't let me.

p.s. It's going on ebay too

I was unable to get the link changed to something that works so here is a new link to pictures of the bits and pieces of my salvage from the Powermatic 87 bandsaw.

OOPS. I was not looking at the saw table when I replied to Richard Newman's question. It does NOT have a miter slot. It has a slot through which the blade slides having also a steel plate insert. Naval Jelly to the rescue. There is no structural damage I am able to see but years of bad storage have it pretty rusty...working on that.

This beastly table weighs almost 114 lbs. Gonna have to ship it freight if anyone wants it.

In answer to someone's question, ("Is the blade welder single phase?"). I think so. The motor plate says that it is single phase so that should go for the welder too since there doesn't appear to be any kind of converter or transformer in play.

The upper and lower variable-speed shaft/pulley units are out and for sale. Entire units are $150 each. You'll probably want to replace the pillows, as they're a little 'grindey' feeling but they will be dipped in an electrolytic bath and coated for rust resistance, wrapped in plastic and securely packaged. (I actually like to find inventive ways of packaging items for shipping) Readdddyyyy? Go!

I have been able to sell the upper variable speed drive shaft/pulley unit. The lower unit (on the left with the spring) is still for sale. $150.

Sold one of the band-wheels and the lower trunion assembly. Lower VS drive setup, transmission, tensioner, blade guide and counterweight, one of the bandwheels and the transmission indicator/adjustment linkage are still for sale...and the monster table if you're local. You don't want to pay to have this thing shipped.
