Used JET JWJ-8HH vs new Grizzly G0490X

I’m building out a new workshop and ready to buy a jointer. Due to space, budget, and anticipated projects I’ve decided on an 8” jointer.
Just found a used 2017 model Jet JWJ-8HH in excellent condition for $1350.
    A new Grizzly G0490X is $1425 + $169 fright.
Which one would you buy ?

    Either is correct.

When you add the sales tax to the Grizzly price, the Jet looks attractive.

They are apparently equivalent machines. I have a 490x but if I was in your position, I would probably buy the JET and save some money. Jointers are relatively simple machines. Warranty is probably not much of an issue.

Edit: Except that I see the Jet is a dovetail style, while the Grizzly is a parallelogram style. I am a fan of the parallelogram style table adjustment. I might pass on the jet for that reason...not sure...

Can you explain the difference? The good, the bad.

It comes down to ease of adjustment of the tables if that is/becomes necessary. With the dovetail type you need to somehow insert shims. Appears to be more difficult to do than making adjustments to the four points where the tables are referenced to on the parallel style.

Functionally, if both are set up properly, I don't think there is any practical difference between the two.

Perhaps someone can add additional thoughts/details on the difference?

This one is a better comparison and is in stock. There is a 3 day 10% off coupon going out to people on our email list today, so that basically pays for the shipping. New machine, full warranty and made in Taiwan in an ISO 9001 factory.

The best part about the Jet is you can check it out and even try it out in person. I would do that with cash in my pocket.

Whenever I hear the word "shim" I run for cover. I have the Steelex version of the 0490x and love it. Based on what I read about dovetail tables they would have driven me bonkers. I don't have the patience for stuff like that.
