    removing wax

What is the best way to remove the wax coating from a wood block that is too large for my planer?

Naphtha is one good solvent for wax. Use plenty, and lots of cloths or paper towels.

I'd remove it mechanically as solvent or heat will drive the wax deeper into the block. I'd suggest a paint scraper and a power hand plane. For that work a cheap Harbor Freight for $38 minus the 20% coupon will work great.

I’ll jump in for Richard; it’s a hand held powered planer. Here’s the one that came up on the HF site, but many tool companies make them.

I would use a cabinet scraper. Unless it was a huge slab
