Anyone knowledgeable about Domain name registrations?

This obviously isn't the right forum, but I can't find any place better; if you have any suggestions...

I got a domain name registered 9 years ago, and it is expiring in June. I am the domain administer with G Suite, and get my email by logging into gmail with name@domain.info. Network Solutions is $35/year and Google is $12/year. If I transfer my registration to Google, will anything bad happen, or will I just go on as before?

If nothing bad happens, how can Network Solutions justify charging 3x what Google charges?

    Thanks.

Forget the cost, if you are using google for your email, you are better off having them do the domain registration.

Network Solutions was the Registrar when there was only one. Did a great job and continued to do a great job until they were bought by Web.com. Now horrible, trying to compete with GoDaddy for the bottom of the pile.
