    Thick finish for table top?

Building a top for a neighbor, he wants to use a finish with a thick build-up on the top,he has seen some bar tops that look like the finish is 1/4" thick. Anyone have any idea of what that finish is?

but really there are a lot of table top epoxy kits out there that will doing the job. a few can do a full .25" in a single pour but most of the cheaper one can only do about .125" per pour.

The ultimate method done by top furniture companies and yacht interior finishers is simply 2K urethane over epoxy or polyester. Don't use PE, because its problematic, hard to get etc, but use epoxy as the build base, then spray or pour 2K urethane over top to protect, and be a buffing base. The high solids epoxies mentioned above that can be poured thick, are not hard for abrasion resistance, but great as a base for filling pores and grain sealing, then you sand final to 320, then spray automotive urethane. If you don't want to spray 2K urethane, I have had success mixing up a batch, then wait for bubbles to come out, then pouring onto entire surface, draining off, then setting up level. This eliminates spraying mist, but solvent off gassing will be noticeable. If bubbles occur, fill spray gun with lacquer thinner and spray wet surface with bubbles and the solvent breaks bubbles and it levels out like glass. When cured, the urethane is hard, and wet sands and buffs to high gloss easily. The surface will already be pretty flawless, and you only need spot scraping / wet sanding / buffing. Otherwise, just do the epoxy finish like everyone else recommends, but expect surface nerds to be permanent (bugs, dust nibs, fisheyes, etc), because you can't buff epoxy to gloss as well as 2K urethane.
