Those tools look way too pristine to get a good deal. Reminds of the tool collector you'll run into at an antique show with tons of tools who wants $75.00 for a Stanley No 4 with a broken tote. There's a reason he still has that many tools to sell.

None of my other tools are shiny, so this way they match.

    Yep.

How many sales have we attended where price requests are met with "Oh, THAT'S not for sale."

I'm a sucker for vintage pencil sharpeners. Just picked up a Boston Ranger 55 for the shop

I hear that. Another one that bugs me is being one of the first ones into a sale and seeing things with "Sold" on them before the sale even started.

Ben, ever heard the saying "Without pics it didn't happen"? ;-) I only need one but I'm still waiting for it to cross my path. :-)

I bought a pencil sharpener like that on ebay several years back. Alas, it makes my pencils look like they've been chewed upon by geriatric, mostly toothless woodchucks.

    Exactly right.

I'm always happy for the person that scores a dream of a deal, but I confess to sometimes feeling a little jealous it wasn't me. It seems I'm always a bridesmaid and never a bride when it comes to tool score gloats.

I planned to go to the Greensboro sale but I promised to get new countertops installed at our house. I probably would have spent too much money on a tool I didn't use.
