Entrance Way / Threshold between living room and kitchen

    Hi all,

I'd like to do my first threshold between rooms inside my own house. I drew some hand sketches (tried to anyway) of my ideas.

The cross section gives you a good idea of the idea. There are two main options: Have board A a continuous piece and board B two pieces or vice versa. So far I wasn't thinking any special joinery techniques. Just glue between pieces.

I also am not sure how to prep my drywall / studs for the project. Since these are not nearly perfect, my idea is to make A boards continuous and then shim B as necessary to make it perpendicular to A.

    This project will be oak.

I've never done this sort of thing before, so any advice is greatly appreciated.
