Carbide Router Bit and Painted 45° Surface?

I need to remove a thin layer of material from a painted 45° surface, probably around 1/32 - 1/64" to get a proper fit. I would prefer to use the age-old cut-and-try approach but do not want to damage a nice 1/2" shank bit if someone else has tried and learned the hard way. I also want to avoid paint remover if I can.

    Thanks,
    John

I don't know what precision is required, but I would sand it.

A carbide router bit withstands cutting melamine laminate. Some paint is not going to bother it. Of more concern is making sure there are no nails or other hardware hidden by the paint. Cheers
Every construction obeys the laws of physics. Whether we like or understand the result is of no interest to the universe.
