    I've watched many of his videos and saw this one. He is a talented young guy and does some interesting builds. He also has quite a tool kit.

    Does "line rule layout" mean basing things like mortise and tenon layout referencing the center of each board versus a reference face? Is that why he doesn't need to dimension anything except flattening the top?

    Yep, you don't even need to flatten the top, just a straight line and a plumb and level line on the ends. Works great for timbers that have a twist in them for pergolas and timber framing.

    John Patric: I really like learning new words. If i'm out and about and hear new words like that i'll make a note and look them up later. Sometimes those are the best videos when the only sound is coming from a saw, plane or mallet.
