Thread: A silly stool.

    A silly stool.

    Just something to sit on.

But wait, that's not all. It's also a bottle holder The question of course isn't why but why not? Now you have a place to put your bottle of booze when you sit down

Nice! (not bad taste in whiskey either!) I like the way the stool looks slightly tipsy already.

    I like it!

I can imagine myself with a set of 3 of these. Sitting outside in my garage on a warm evening, with myself, 2 friends and 3 bottles. Should be a good evening...........

If only that was a bottle of Ardbeg, Laphroig or Lagavulin. . .

Nice Stool. . .I like that there is still continuous grain from the seat to the floor even with the offset shape of the legs.

    What joinery did you use?

I used a mortise and tenon construction.

Nice. It could easily be a Tantalus-style decanter with small modifications.

Can’t see the top, curious because my scorp just arrived! Good to have some weight to it but hard to imagine the bottle staying put the way people rock their stools, perhaps glue it in place?

Nice! It looks like the legs are close enough just below the seat to lock the top of the bottle in place so it won't fall out if the stool is tipped a bit? Should work for wine too. Clever idea.

Novel and nice. Could you please show the seat top? Thanks
Rustic? Well, no. That was not my intention!

It's evening over here so the lighting isn't the best now. I'll take a photo of the seat tomorrow and how the bottle stays in place.

It's a draw knife in a horse shoe shape.

Here's a pic showing how the bottle stays in place when the stool is tilted.

The seat is a triangle with curved edges.

And a bonus pic of a chair I made.

I think the second chair would be easier to stay on after tipping the bottle . . .

What kind of wood is that ? (maybe you already said in an earlier post.)
