    Ash entertainment center

Finally finished this after about 3 months of work. It’s ash and ash plywood. The finish is two coats of dewaxed shellac and two coats of wipe on poly. I edged the plywood with 1/8 solid strips. It houses the electronics and the top shelf is dedicated to the sound bar. The drawers hold dvd and other junk. The frame is mortis and tenon. The shelving is all dado’s. I used soft close kv drawer slides.

Beautiful work, Dan. When a piece is custom built to the components, everything just looks, well, in their place. I’m sure you’ll enjoy this for a long time to come. Thanks for sharing!

Agreed, it always looks better when it's built to fit the space and components.

Very nice looking. Great job. I really like the lighter coloration. Matches the setting very well.

I also like the cabinet a lot. The lines and light color are very appealing.
Rustic? Well, no. That was not my intention!

Looks beautiful. Very nice finish too. How did you apply the shellac?

The first coat of shellac I brushed on with a foam brush but I got some high spots and some runs. I sanded those. The second coat I just rubbed on with a rag. I found that worked better and gave a more even finish. I think the brush was putting it on too heavy.
