    Production faceplate

I recently saw a link somewhere to a steel faceplate approximately 8' in diameter that was made to be used in production turning, I think. Unfortunately I failed to save the link and now can't find it again. The faceplate had a pin that screwed into the center that fit into a hole in the blank, and also had multiple screw points that stuck out of the face that stuck into the blank. I believe it was made/sold by someone named Karen? Is there anyone that has any idea of what I'm talking about?

    Thanks,
    Greg

This may be what you are thinking of. Looks a little expensive to me.

If you had a solid faceplate you could install a center pin and then other pins where ever you choose.
This shows one Raffan uses but without the center pin.

    Michael,

Thanks that is exactly what I was looking for. Yes it is expensive and I just wanted to see if I could modify one of my faceplates to accomplish the same thing. Thanks so much.

Save yourself $130 and get one of these. https://www.woodturnerscatalog.com/p...ite-Chuck-Spur
You don't have to switch between a chuck and a faceplate, so even faster.

Check out this article - https://sawmillcreek.org/showthread....ate&highlight=

Jerry ended up making some of these from metal and I ended up with one. Works pretty well though I haven’t used it in a long time.

Made one myself out of a 6 inch faceplate just thread 3-4 of the holes, sharpen the screws and put a jam nut on the mack side. Then get a stub center to pop in the MT. Works excellent.
