if the wood was in south Georgia it would look like Hickory
I'm not good at the wood guessing game, but to me it looks like white oak based on the ray flecks.

Found washed up on some Atlantic beach?. Could have traveled a long way. Heavy or light weight? Dark heartwood, pores look bocote"ish" but could be any of many. Do you want guesses or do you want to know?

Jeff good chance it is Hickory, as that is what I would ID it as, maybe someone wanted to have a fire on the beach and brought some wood along, hickory is good firewood, and good turning wood as well.
I like the light and Dark color Hickory can have, some are not quite as dark, I have a picture here from a piece I was turning, no finish on it so the color is lighter, but as you can see it is the same kind of wood as what you show.
I know some couldn’t ID a stick unless the name was written on it , but then again some can
