Thread: Spindle Frequency?

    Spindle Frequency?

I bought and installed a new 3hp water-cooled spindle with an inverter to run it. Inverter is https://www.valinonline.com/products/esv222n02yxb . Now whenever I switch the spindle on it triggers my limit switches (in Mach3) and I can only reset it when the spindle is not running. Would adding a line reactor to the inverter help? Spindle and limit switch wiring is all shielded and properly grounded.

I'm virtually at a standstill. Any help?

A water cooled spindle? What the heck is that? Any pictures?
    NOW you tell me...

Is your VFD in the same enclosure with your other electronics, Danny? It could be noise in general from the VFD. Are the limit switches mechanical or electronic (proximity) sensing?

A line reactor is certainly a good idea. I can't imagine what would be tripping the limit switches if it isn't dirty power. Variable frequency drives are notoriously noisy, electronically.

A lot of us use water cooled spindles. They're quiet, cool running, and efficient. Ours is a 3kW (4HP).
