I was born and raised in Fresno, moved to Atlanta in my mid twenties, and transfered a couple years later to Michigan. I do miss the farm land, Sierra Nevadas, etc., My entire immediate family is still there and that gives me a chance to visit on a fairly regular basis.

My Mom was born in Kingsburg and still have family in and around those smaller towns south of Fresno. Still get up to Shaver Lake, Dinky Creek, Mono Hot Springs. Sadly much of the farm land is going under the suburban sprawl and the air pollution is so bad, you regularly can't see the Sierra Nevada.

Sorry, folks, this thread is taking on a nostalgic twist. My Sister has a place at Shaver. Had friends with places at Huntington, and did a lot of fishing at Florence. Beautiful places. Our house was built on an old fig orchard, and yes, much of the farm land within miles was sold for development. And unfortunately, the Valley has some of the worst air quality around these days.
