Have a friend who has Parkinson's and has asked me to build a magazine/book holder so he can read. Shaking to much to hold books now. Any suggestion on a design? Not sure as to what he may need in the design.

How does your friend want to read? Maybe sitting in an armchair? There's a whole class of bookholders which stand beside the armchair. They have an arm which projects over the chair, and holds the book. Here's a link to a metal example -- https://www.amazon.com/Covers-Paperb.../dp/B000ABHIXG -- but there are wood ones out there too.
I've also seen a related stand which bridges the armchair. It has wheels on the bottom so the reader can push it out of the way. A bridge-style one might could also hold food instead of a book.
There's another style of bookholder which sits in the reader's lap, or can sit on a table in front of the reader. Here's an example -- https://www.amazon.com/Wood-Cookbook.../dp/B002LZMOEM
cecil, check out this amazon page
https://www.amazon.com/s?k=bedside+h...l_305mdk71mp_b for some ideas. They have a lot of hospital-type tables with tilting surfaces, some down the page are made to hold laptops etc. Maybe you can figure something out from there.
Thanks. Talked to him and got some additional ideals as to what he wanted.
I am interested in whatever you design and build since I may have future need for similar accommodations. BTW, I grew up in NE MO. Thanks!
Rustic? Well, no. That was not my intention!
