General Finishes Gel Topcoat feedback requested

I am working on a live edge waterfall style desk for my 11 year old daughter. She is helping build this project and I'd like to have her help with the finish.

Normally I spray my projects but for this I'm thinking about using General Finishes Gel Topcoat satin finish. I've read some reviews on the web that seem positive but was looking for some first hand feedback before I buy a can and trial it on a sample board.

I've used a few quarts of Gel Topcoat; not my favorite stuff. My main issue with it is that it has poor chemical durability. Even water will damage it if left on it or a few hours. Alcohol and 409, Fantastic, etc. are deadly on it.

Arm-R-Seal is a much better choice for a product that can be wiped on.
