Considering this sharpener with the Wide Blade Attachment. I'm wondering if any has this setup and how they like it? I'm especially interested in how well the guide and platform perform and whether or not is gives a truly 90* edge to side, blade? Thanks for the help.

It works as well as you are able to set the blade in the holder. Like most other blade holding gadgets. The pressure you apply the edge is more of a factor, IMHO. I like mine and would buy again. Russ

Russ, does it form a 90* side to edge? When wet stone sharpening, I use a Leigh Neilsen honing guide and works beautifully. That said, forming a new primary bevel takes quite a while and it's not an automatic 90* edge, cuz the guide can rock. That's why I'm a stickler the WS setup being able to form a good, 90* bevel.

once you get the hang of the machine, you will get perfect 90, not that it is really needed . . . . .
