    36" porter facer

Just secured this machine for a customer who does large slabs. Has a Newman quiet cut head.

Only real issue is that someone robbed all the carbides off the head. Good thing it was cheap. New Carbides are about 6300 bucks.

That's awesome! A shop near me has a smaller surfacing machine and I've found it quite an interesting piece of machinery.
    Bumbling forward into the unknown.

What exactly is a facer compared to a planer?

Hard to tell the scale of that beast, but I’m guessing about 6’ tall and 10’ wide?

It's like a jointer, but its fed by spring loaded fingers on the top section. It makes lumber flat. Usually these would be belt fed to a double surfacer. Get you skip planed material.

It's about 6 feet tall, about 8 feet long. 6800 pounds.

If you come across a nice board stretcher, I'm in the market. I've heard good things about the ones from the early eighties, but I really like the looks of the older ones. They really feng my shui.
