    Little Oaken Box

Had a pile of cut-offs and the like, left over from the Microwave Cabinet build....resaw some into something I could make use of. Stuff too "knotty" was sent to the burn pile..the rest?
    close the lid.jpg
Just a little box...just under12" long, counting the lid.
    handle.jpg
Box ends are 6-1/2" wide. Raised panels are done with a hand plane. Small handle to dress things up a bit
    foot pads.jpg
Steel toed feet? Panel is some left over 1/4" Luann plywood. Corner joints are just Tongue and Groove glue joints.
    lid is on.jpg
Small, steel Stanley hinges....lid was a cut off, from the 1 x12 used in the Microwave Cabinet's topper.
Router was used to round over most of the edges.
Not a bad way to use up a pile of scraps?

    Good use of scrap wood.

Nice work. And thanks for the idea. I have some wood left over from building flower boxes and shutters. The mill called it cedar and I think I read somewhere that what the big box stores sell is juniper. This wood has a beautiful warm reddish color and it's 1 full inch thick.
Perhaps I'll build a similar box with what's left.
