Second fence on LV Combo plane?

Has anyone tried using a second fence on the Veritas Combo plane, as in having a fence on each side of the board? The Stanley 55 does this for some uses and I can see where that would help maintain the blade position in certain instances.

    Any thoughts or experiences?

If the work piece isn't uniform the plane could bind in spots.

The #55 has fences that can be angled. One of the uses for two fences is so a detail, like a bead or a slot, can be worked on a chamfered corner.

To maintain blade position do not try to take all the shavings in one or two passes. A light cut makes it easier to control a combination plane.
