    Threaded inserts for wood

    Hello, I am looking for a source for threaded inserts for wood that will accept a 1/2 inch bolt.
    any suggestions would be appreciated. Kevin

    Go to for wood,

    Then to stainless steel. The steel for wood only goes to 3/8

    The stainless goes to 1/2

    A regular NC tap will cut very clean threads in hard wood.

    In my world, a bolt threaded into wood (only) would not be an acceptable form of woodworking joinery.

    Depending on your needs and situation, you might be able to cut a mortise in the side of your board and snug fit a square nut inside with the bolt entering another side of the wood piece.

    1/2" in wood is going to have a limited holding power compared to common uses for connectors of that size but, certainly doable:

  11. Lowes have some good stock on these. I recently bought some under specialty bolts, next to elevator bolts.
