    Little Help?

Just bought this Oliver 159 Lathe on Craigslist. The tail stock spindle is about 1/8" lower than the head stock spindle. Clearly, this won't work. Is this the wrong tail stock? Is there a missing spacer? Its weird, both pieces sport the same awful multiple coats of paint, right down to the original, right back to the 1940s. Any ideas?

The quill looks odd in the tailstock. Is there any play in the quill and does the offset difference between the tail stock and head stock change as you move the quill in and out?

Thanks John, think that's what I am going to do. Guy over at OWWM nailed it I think, its a tail stock for a Powermatic 45. The width between the ways is the same, and I think two 1/8" shims will get it.

You could epoxy the shims in place. That would be my suggestion also.
