    How close to water?

Hi. I’m getting ready to add another 20V circuit in my basement in order to line up my tool stations along a wall and in the corner of that wall is where water comes from the street into my house. I want to start the run/circuit on that wall using a GFCI outlet near the incoming water pipe, but I don’t know the allowed proximity of an outlet and the cutoff valve and pressure regulator.

I assume you mean 120 volt. There is no specific limit as to how close a receptacle can be to a water valve or regulator. There is a requirement that receptacles within 6 feet of a sink be GFCI protected, but a valve is not a sink. Of course, GFCI protection is required for all receptacles in an unfinished part of a basement used for storage or as a workspace anyway. Since you are planning to GFCI protect, put it as close as you like to the valve/regulator.

Thank you, that’s great news. That outlet that will be closest to the water will be the start of the run and will be a GFCI outlet.
