Thread: Simple, easy flip stop

    Simple, easy flip stop

Not that apparent in pics but I used a T slot router bit and toilet bolts.

I put one on each side of the radial and miter saws.

Great idea, wish I had seen it a couple years back. I went to the trouble of building a Biesmeyer clone when I could have gotten by with this. If something ever happens to mine I see what I will be going to. ;-)

    Nice job!

Just a suggestion. . . make a couple more and put them on your fences. I use something similar and I found that having two is really useful. I can leave one set to a dimension I may need to come back to and use the other one so I do not lose the setting. Not sure that is real clear! LOL.

Good stuff Robert. Next time you're ordering from Lee Valley, put this in your cart as it will allow the stop to sit horizontal (flip 270 degrees) to the work surface (out the way).

Ted, yes I have one on each side.

Hilton, as you can see, they flip out of the way.

I think Hilton is saying you can flip the stop over to the other side of the fence with his suggested hinge. Your photo shows the stop is standing up on the fence.

One question: the last photo shows the rod of the hinge slightly undersized. Is there any little play in the hinge (sideways, or inside the barrel)?

I don't like flimsy hinges used as precision stops.
