Handrail: Rattle can Lacquer vs arm-r-seal

I need to install a maple handrail in my basement. I have Arm-R-Seal leftover from other projects, but the dry time would put me out another couple of weeks, given I have to apply several coats and let it cure before install.

Would a spray Lacquer give me durable protection, allow easy cleanup (those grimey hands require I clean the light colored wood occasionally !) too?

If you can get pre-cat lacquer in a rattle can, ok. ARS is still better, but at least you likely won't have to redo it in a couple of years like you would with plain lacquer. Personally, I would still use ARS.

Darn. I was trying to get away with a quick one. Arm r Seal is more durable, huh?
