Spraying wipe on poly with a HVLP?

Can it be done with good results?

Assuming you mean oil based "wipe on poly", you can spray it...but it's going to result in a major mess of sticky over-spray. Spraying isn't the best way to apply slow-drying materials. Spraying is better suited to water borne finishes, shellac and (if you have the proper spray environment) solvent based lacquers, etc. They dry very quickly and over-spray is nearly always dry or almost dry before it hits the floor.
