I saw a guy walking through Lowe's today with two narrow (8"?) live edge slabs, maybe 6' long and 2" thick. Looked like pine. What is up with that?

NOW you tell me...
Last time I was at Menards they had many species of live edge boards.
Never, under any circumstances, consume a laxative and sleeping pill, on the same night
Noticed that it was from Lowe's Canada.
On the other hand, I still have five fingers.
I went to Lowes a few days ago for some yellow pine 2x4’s and at least a third of the stack was live edge. They were not even charging extra! What a deal!
They are available in the States, too - can be ordered on-line, and some stores stock them. The closest one that has them in stock is ~ 15 miles from me, so I might have a look some day when I have some time on my hands. They also have a variety of pre-fab metal leg assemblies, sized for end tables, coffee tables, etc. so you can build a "kit."
Some of them are also prebent in case you don't have a steamer.
That wasn't live edge lumber, it was just a couple of their typical 2x4s.
