    LV Goes above and beyond

I took advantage of the free shipping period to order up a couple block plane blades for my antique knuckle joint Stanley #18 & #65. They showed up last night, and when I opened the package I got a nice surprise. Included at no charge were a couple of plane blade cases. They'll be a good place to store the vintage blades for safekeeping.

    Thanks again LV and Veritas!

I think they always include those when you buy replacement irons. Mine all came with them too.

Yes, but they’re still nice to have.

Same here. Two pm-V11 block plane replacement blades. It's how they package them.

Bad news. Neither blade fits my planes.

The distance from the cutting edge to the holes the adjuster sits in are such that on the #18 it's not possible to set the depth adjustment to a place where the plane will take a shaving. The edge is either retracted or too far extended too far no matter where you set the adjustment.

On my #65, the cap screw isn't long enough to accommodate the extra blade thickness.

Oh well. Glad they accept returns.
