    Compressor motor problems

Howdy, my 16a compressor motor started acting up. It was running slow then tripping the breakers. I figured it was the run capacitor so I replaced it. No change. I replaced the start capacitor, still no change. It trips even without a load after about 15 seconds.

i couldn't find American made capacitors and I'm wondering if one of the Chinese capacitors was bad. Any suggestions?

My guess is if it is tripping a breaker, a capacitor is not going to fix it. Something else is going on. Bearings tight ? Centrifugal switch bad ? More likely windings though.

Maybe you will have to replace the motor. Google electric motors to find a vendor.

Can you plug it into another circuit that uses a different circuit breaker? Breakers do go bad.

It could even be that your compressor is trying to start up and run under load. There is usually a pressure relief valve to help compressor get started and running before a load is place on it.
